“But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” – Isaiah 40:31.

I Remember...

Registration for the Fleet Feet, No Boundaries Running program closed today.
I handed out forms to all my friends, neighbors, and all the people that I have been begging to come running with me but always declined.  I expected maybe two to commit.  Last night, I had 9 people turn in their registration!! There are 50 spots available and the other 8 coaches recruited the other 41.  I am so proud!  Some of my friends that registered I had all but given up on as far as running was concerned.  Some of them have never done any type of physical exercise and some have just been too intimidated to run on their own.
My friend's hubby even asked me "am I going to be the biggest one out there?"

That question made me think about how intimidated I had felt before I started running.
I remember all the fears and insecurities I had.  Running just seemed  so much bigger than me.
I also remember my first runner's high and the euphoric feeling of my body in unity.
I remember my first 5k and feeling of accomplishment.
I remember the pride I felt when I took first place in age group and how I thought I would never be there.
I am excited to be able to experience this with my friends.  I am excited to share in their joy and their journey.
More than anything I am honored to introduce them to my good friend...running.

What do you remember about your first run?

Grace and peace,

This scripture helped me overcome my fears:
"For God did not give us a spirit of fear but one of power, love, and self-discipline."
2 Timothy 1:7

I remember thinking... I am going to pass out and they will have to call 911. But I didn't. I wasn't even the last one in... thank God, I accepted the challenge to get fit.

Honestly I don't remember my first run. It was so long ago. I know it would not have been far or fast but it has lead me to a life where running is now a near daily event. I have ran 11 mararthon and countless 5k, 10k races. It was a run that showed me a gift God had given me. I don't give up. I don't quit. I may not be the fastest but I can run and run and run and love it.

Who knows what miracles lay ahead of that one little run? I am so glad I took it!
